Meet The Doctors

Dr. Bruce Hochstadter

Received his Bachelor Degree in Dentistry from the University of Illinois. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois. His internship and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery were completed at the Brooklyn- Cumberland Medical Center and Brooklyn’s Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Following his residency, he achieved the rank of Major, and was Staff Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the army. He has served as Clinical Instructor and Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago. Dr. Hochstadter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also a member of the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Chicago Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is the former chairman of the Section of Dentistry at Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. Hochstadter is certified by the American Heart Association as an instructor and in basic life support. He is accredited in The Advanced Cardiac Life Support as well as by the American College of Surgeons in Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Dr. Richard Isaacson

Received his Bachelor Degree in General Science from the University of Iowa. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loyola University School of Dentistry. He served his residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Isaacson served as Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loyola University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of the Illinois and Chicago Societies of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Isaacson is an associate fellow of the American College of Oral Implantology and is certified by the American Heart Association in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and as an instructor in Basic Life Support. He is the former chairman of the department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Lutheran General Hospital.

Dr. Barry Cherny
Received his Bachelor Degree in Biology from the University of Illinois. He then received his Bachelor Degree of Dentistry from the University of Illinois. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois. His internship and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery were completed at the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics, Humana-Michael Reese Medical Center, West Side Veteran’s Administration Hospital and Cook County Hospital. Dr. Cherny has performed volunteer surgery in Mexico on congenitally deformed children. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a fellow in the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Cherny is a member of the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is certified by the American Heart Association in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and as an instructor in Basic Life Support. Dr. Cherny is the former chairman of the department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Lutheran General Surgery.

Dr. Leo Dumanis
Dr. Leo Dumanis attended Loyola University in
Chicago. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He completed his internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and served his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts with affiliations with West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital, and Jamaica Plain Veterans Administration Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Chicago Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Dumanis is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life support by the American Heart Association. He is also an instructor of basic life support.

Dr. John Chae

Dr. John Chae received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University where he graduated with honors and received numerous accolades including the Academic Excellence Gold award, the California Dental Association scholarship and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons scholarship. He was also inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.Dr. Chae has extensive experience in complex facial trauma, odontogenic infections, and oral/maxillofacial pathology. He has treated many patients in the clinical setting for dentoalveolar conditions, complex extractions and impactions as well as dental implants.  He is well trained in outpatient anesthesia, and orthognathic surgery.Dr. Chae is well published and has presented research in both the dental and oral and maxillofacial surgery literature.  He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Chicago Dental Society, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.  He is also an adjunct faculty member at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine.
